Homework reinforces what is learned at school and instills good work habits. It covers material learned in class, which means that students should always know how to do their assignments when working on them at home.
Each day, I model writing the homework down in my planner under the document camera and project it onto the big screen while the students write it in their own planners. If your child is having trouble writing the assignments down in his or her planner, please let me know, and I can provide assistance.
My philosophy is that fourth graders should work on written homework for no more than 20 minutes each night, Monday through Thursday. They should read for at least twenty minutes every day! If you feel that your child is spending too much or too little time on assignments, please let me know so I can work with your child toward a solution.
